It is a centuries-old Japanese technique used to repair broken pottery. But instead of disguising the fractures with invisible glue, artisans join the fragments back together using a lacquer mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum. The result is fascinating: the object is not only whole again, but its "scars" now shine. The wounds become the most valuable and beautiful part of the piece. The object is stronger and carries more history precisely because it was once broken. What if we applied this to ourselves? We often try to hide our failures, our insecurities, and the moments when we felt we were breaking inside. We feel ashamed for not being that image of "intact porcelain" that we see in everyone else's feeds.
