Namaste,
Here I'm with another analysis on my city and my society. I recently visited Paltan Bazaar, a very famous and oldest shopping spot of my city. It is believed that this place was constructed as flea market in the year 1923 by British people. And with passing year it became more famous and center of tourist attraction visiting Rishikesh; yoga capital of India, Haridwar; holy city, Mussorie; queen of hills and the list goes on and on. Dehradun is basically in the center and accessible to everyone visiting nearby places of interest. Also dehradun is home to alot of people practicing different languages and culture. I've been living in this city for past 6 years and it never seizes to surprise me.
Coming to my point, recently there's alot of damage being caused to the natural and original picture of my city in the name of development. Leaders of the city the converting our untouched and authentic city into something called as Smart City. One fine evening after my work I visited Paltan Bazaar to get some groceries and noticed fascia of every shop being in saffron color, which is the color of Hindu religion and the name of stores being in hindi language.
According to our constitution we're a secular country and a home to a total of 22 languages, which make me think more about this change as a not really nice decision. We as a country has a seemingly high population of people following Hindu religion but that does not mean we're not secular. Also the current political leaders of our country are knowingly trying to differentiate humans on the basis of religion and also favor rising decisions for one particular religion.
My take on this is we're humans and we should believe in humanity including the fact that our leader who are torch bearer for us should function in favor of humanity, what's your take?
