Diving through the pools of artistry that laps along the trails of digital landscapes I’ve come across the following works of art. Appreciate them and admire the aesthetic essences found within.
Artist: Truilt
I’m honestly in awe at this dudes’ works. Truilt is a relatively new artist on Deviant Art, 5 month old account, and the small gallery that’s available really imbibes a desire for more of this style. This guy has a definitive understanding of invoking the surrealist spirit, using collage, being loose with technique and knowing how to juxtapose in all manner of being. Naturally the works speak for themselves, but the guy has serious potential and I’m excited to see what comes next from this surrealist maw of a man. Please give Truilt your appreciation!
distant reaches belong in enclosures
Organic Phyrexian, Bio-mechanical and Tyranid-esque forms scream at me as I peruse this canvas; You almost can’t believe such a work is real. The off-teal sky and sketched vibe further focuses the attention towards the realized forms in the middle. Going back, though, the large ‘sun’-like object with the face is then covered by the craggy arch, pushing it back developing the layered perspective. Truilt perfectly uses layering to build up the composition and hone in on the subejects in the story. You can almost not distinguish if these are creatures, or just aspects of the surrounding land itself. Imagine an entire world of writhing organic masses, akin to the style portrayed herein, being the tectonic plates for each continent are indistinguishable from fleshy flesh we understand as being muscle, sinew and tendons. The larger mass has its claw in the dead creature to the right, overshadowed by the radiant head soon-to-be-devoured by this seemingly 2-D crocodile creature. Perspective flow from center to the left, in-line with that odd creature, giving the composition more depth and focus. This bemused creature, whose lower half seems desecrated from its true-self, that upper half being some majestic entity and very well defined, builds itself as a protagonist of some surreal story where-by he/she/it comes across the scene we have before us.
Tear Drop Lady
Such a smart piece of work here, I couldn’t help but add this to the list. You can really get a feel for how the brush is used to develop the form in this piece and by proxy Truilt’s other works. Green and red are used to distinguish between light and dark, developing the values of the tear-drop lady with immense clarity it becomes almost too obvious to state. Amongst the craziness of the brushes and sketchy vibe, you can still see semblances of accurate anatomy within this work; this sheds light on Truilt’s skill and artistic eye when it comes to developing the subjects in each composition.
Tasty Fruit
This is just nuts, I almost don’t know where to begin. Well, of course I know where to start: somewhere, which is clearly what Truilt knows how to do as well. A whirling catastrophe of brush strokes embellish the sky and background of the canvas, developing a powerful sense of movement. From there, all manner of sickly, gnarly and abstract forms emerge forth: spindles of fire and magma, giant scythes, a strange apple, and an eye-shape with a fractal cornea sporting from it some arm ended by a reptilian head and vehement maw, whose tongue grips an orb reflecting a sky with birds. Perspective is gained as the middle section sports a cobble-stoned building in the distance, led up to by a path way that zigs and zags through the ongoing calamity. I dig the man that is vaguely developed, whose defined sense of self is nearly completely destroyed by the visuals enraptured before him. I love this work, it’s crazy good. Take your time soaking this up.
Summoners Eye
I see three sections to this artwork: the background with the summoned being, the middle and front with the summoner, and the right-side of the canvas. What struck me the most what the variance in detail on the right-hand side, as well as the interesting perspective viewpoint the composition takes. Notice the textures and forms that seem so crisp and vibrant in this. It amazes me how well layered the composition seems to be. I love the allegory, them and idealism that the ‘summoner’ meme brings about. Truilt really drives home his skill with this artwork.
Artist: Jorge
Some of the better Mandelbulb works I’ve seen, with a larger variety and good quality. Often you’ll see these types of 3D works in a lower resolution because the creators computer is a tad on the weak-side. Jorge gives us some wonderful 3d fractals and I appreciate the creative use of the renders with other environments of which I’ve not often seen before. I love Mandelbulber the 3D renders made within and love to support folks like Jorge who bring us awesome images like these. Please give Jorge your appreciation!
The Context of Innocence
This tends to be a common shot of mandelbulb works, really zoomed in to see all the granular details within the structure. The quality and variance in this is wonderful, and aptly speaks for itself. What caught my eye on this was the deeper organic-felt valleys that contain and greenish hue. I feel these works can be remixed and used in collage-techniques to apply implied texture to digital works. As an individual artwork it functions beautifully.
Soul Collector
The blur on this is a bit much, but it does give a serious crisp focus on the primary space of the work. Radial symmetry is often found in these mandelbulb creations, and in this you can see semblances of the fractal as it reduces down to infinity. I get a serious “Jewel in the eye of the lotus” feel with this as there are clearly ‘8’ petals that spread out from the orb in the middle. The green and gold hues mesh so well together, having an overall soft and calming vibe to it all.
Sea Pearls
Uncanny, isn’t it? I’ve not yet seen mandelbul renders used in such a way as this. Having a pallid sky enveloping a swath of ocean with a focus on these curled lilly-pads engorged on bright orbs; What a fun little work and it gives such a serene vibe to it. Imagine being on a boat and coming across such a scene as this. Works like this really mess with our human perception on the world, and that’s what I like so much about it!
Klein Lake
Somber and elegant; this fractal worm balances itself tautly on the surface of some brine-algae-infused lake. Not often do I see renders used like this, and I really hope this catches on and as there’s serious potential to be had here. Slight undulations in the water-surface provides echoing hues of peach that further bring about a sense of realism.
