Diving through the pools of artistry that laps along the trails of digital landscapes I’ve come across the following works of art. Appreciate them and admire the aesthetic essences found within.
Artist: Jo ‘Kaos Nest’
I’ve actually known Jo for a while, having done a video about Jo’s work some time ago. I’m glad to see Jo is still making some great works, and you all deserve to bask in this wonderful artwork. Much of today’s theme is traditional works that are fairly dark; Jo has a good sense of contrast while maintaining and calm and somber beauty about everything. You’ll especially notice the immense detail in each work which is astounding. Please give Jo your love and appreciation :D
Fireflies
There is so much going on in Jo’s works, but it’s mostly from all the organic lines & shapes that flow throughout. The light focused on the character and radiating out is a great motif. You notice above the character’s head the little spirit face? Every bit of detail has a purpose and it really fills up the composition to great effect. These manes of bushels and twigs give a druidic feel, harking to folkloric energies and ideals.
Mavors
So impressed with this one, wow what a huge composition. I really dig scenes with a winding city-path used to pull out the perspective; it brings about a staunch feeling of claustrophobia you don’t experience often from artworks. Jo really gets the light set right with the values showing the street being wet via the brightness. The entire scene really feels alive with all of the patient interactions of characters and scenery. Providing more depth to the sides of the work further enhances the perspective and builds up the world. I dig the character, whom I believe is Mavors; he’s straight out of castlevania or bloodborne even!
Cernnunos
Feathers, ghastly and goading eyes glaring, the taute faun satyr with horns adorned and involved in some ritual embalming of this skull: I describe this composition as a collage as it very much is one, comprised of several focal motifs that are common in Jo’s artworks. I love the flaring forms that billow out from aside the characters neck, creating this mane of expressions that provide a lot of personality and depth to the work. Simple and elegant.
Walking in the forest
Thick trees spread out along the background, pushed back further by the radiant glow eminating by the figures head. The facial form of this character is way cool, with the various eyes coming together and lines flowing about. More druidic motifs of geomantic woods expressed outward and up besides the figures head. Mortal ideals glance out from the bone and flesh-billowing hand that holds the tree in front. A very simple composition that is further enigmatically enriched by the deeply complex lines, hues and contrasting values. Awesome stuff
Artist: Sasha Shaderksi
The haphazard brush strokes and deep grunge textures add to the personality of each character, further signifying their enigmatic style. Sasha focuses mostly on character profiles, strong but often lanky figures with long hair in a fairly macabre setting. Deep, moody, with semblances of punk and goth styles reverberate throughout. I really enjoy the variety of ornamentation and facial expressions; each character seems to have an emotional back story, as every artwork is soaked in the characters defiant and edgy aura. Give sasha your love and appreciate for these wonderful works.
Sandar
This was the first piece I saw and it caught my eye right away. Gunmetal grey contrasting the bright crimsons make the forms really pop, along with Sasha’s strong build-up of values and risky brush strokes; I find my eyes going right for the characters’ eyes and outward on. Bowie has a kindred spirit in this guy, that’s for sure!
Queen
Continuing the motif of strong contrasts, this character provides visions of marilyn manson, hah. Regal styling and necromantic ornamentation provides a unique view for this character. Each piece of pierced jewelry fits right in, and along with the well-done use of hues on the face, provides a seriously dimensional figure that stares back into your soul with that nonchalant and un-fuckable glare.
Red Gemini
What a verbose composition! There’s so much going on, it creates a tidal flow of movement and your eyes have difficulty settling on one place to absorb the scene. A work like this is just impressive; all of those lines and carefully positioned inks and colors really show off Sasha’s technical acumen. I feel like this would fit in with a Final Fantasy game, and it has varied semblances of dark elves with their regal and posh haughtiness. I dig it.
Hairs 4
Such a strong composition, giving room on each side of the character to provide background to push back the perspective of the piece makes the character stand out more. Sasha has some other works with oriental styles in them, and it’s a unique style to see in this sort of manner. This character has a very bio-mechanical feel with that headdress and face-mask. Strong and accurate musculature amplifies the vibrant strength this character eminates, creating an overall unique feel to the enigma. There’s so many ideas tailored into this one work, it’s astounding.
