I had been walking through the jungle for hours, and I was starting to get tired. The heat was oppressive, and the humidity was suffocating. I was about to give up when I saw something in the distance that made my heart skip a beat.
It was a lake. A huge, shimmering lake. I couldn't believe my eyes. I had never seen anything like it before. The water was so clear that I could see the bottom, and the trees that surrounded it were so tall that they reached up into the clouds.
I ran towards the lake, eager to get to it. As I got closer, I could see that the water was a deep blue color, and it was surrounded by a rocky shore. There were no palm trees, and the only vegetation was a few scraggly bushes.
I reached the lake and stopped to take a deep breath. The air was fresh and clean, and it smelled like flowers. I waded into the water, and it was so cool and refreshing that I felt all my tiredness melt away.
I swam out to the middle of the lake and looked around. The jungle was all around me, but it seemed so far away. I felt like I was in a different world.
I floated on my back and closed my eyes. I could hear the sound of the waves lapping against the shore, and the birds singing in the trees. I felt completely at peace.
I stayed in the lake for a long time, just enjoying the peace and quiet. Eventually, I got out and dried off on the rocks. I lay down on the rocks and fell asleep, lulled by the sound of the waves.
When I woke up, the sun was setting. The sky was ablaze with color, and the lake was a perfect mirror of the sky. It was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen.
I knew that I would never forget this day. It was a day that I would cherish forever.
