Freedom to speak our mind is one of the basic fundamental human rights that should not have any consequences thereafter despite what is said or the opinion that has been aired. And for me, people has the right to say what is in their mind as long as the law binding freedom of speech stands.
The problem with the world 🌎 today is Classism” . A world where humans are measured by weight of what they have as regards to ranking in the society, which has brought about upper class, middle class and the lowest class. These where the root of “Hate Speech 🎤 “. Because many who are already at the top don’t value those at the bottom, forgetting they started from the bottom.
There is no way a country or nation will be put together and stay healthy if people are not allowed to have opinions over public issues, because its only through opinions that the governments gets to know how the masses feels and how to handle each phase of problems that can help create a better and healthy society. But when the government becomes ignorant of the people, hate speech certainly will arise.
Hate words which is seen as an offensive word can sprout up from an individual or group of individuals when things are not right in a society. Should people then be criminalize because of offensive words? This I will see as “Injustice”, especially in a “Democratic Government” where leaders are supposed to be chosen by the masses.
I see the problem of people using hate speech , offensive words or insulting words as a weapon against a government personnel and prominent leaders who are tyrants and inhumane in the society. If a citizen is angry over how the economy is threatening to the masses and decided to air his or her opinion , should they be arrested because they said their mind and people concerned felt bad? No. We all are the ones that makes up a country, therefore should share opinions.
A lots of hate words have been said to people over the social media , and no body has been sued or arrested. This is how criticism will continue to also go out to the public . Why then feel uncomfortable? I believe things will not be complicated if the government can do the right thing by protecting those called the citizens by allowing freedom of speech and expression and see nothing wrong with them instead of being offended.
In conclusion, criticism, hate speech, insult and offensive words are things that will never be put to stop because people must air their opinion for mistakes to be corrected. Verdicts over hate speech, criticism, opinions, offenses will certainly leads to complicated situations. But in all, freedom of speech should come with people acting responsibly , especially in with words that can cause “Defamation Of Character”
