"Why is this my life?"
She sighed and looked up at all the people within the crowd. Unable to process all the connections taking place, she held her purse tight to her body and placed her hand on my arm.
"Do you ever feel trapped?"
She asked with wide eyes gazing into mine, yearning for the right answer of which I could not provide.
"Are you asking if I ever feel trapped like a bobcat at the zoo or something?"
She smiled and looked away.
"No silly, animals at the zoo are born and bred in captivity. They don't know any other life. They never feel trapped. They have everything they need right inside their cages."
I was at a loss for words. It dawned on me that in that moment we were all trapped, existing as if we have never known any other life.
