It never ceases to amaze me at how quickly everything begins to bloom in Spring. The nighttime temperatures are still quite cold and yet nature continues to emerge in all its glory.
I took a walk around my home and snapped a few photos of what had bloomed this week. Not to forget to mention that a lot of the annual weeds are prolific everywhere. I had better plan on weeding this week before they get too far ahead of me.
Helleborus orientalis
The Lenten Roses have been blooming for a while now but are still looking lovely. They are always the first flower to bloom in my garden.
Epimedium grandiflorum
I love this semi-shade plant mainly for the heart-shaped foliage. The flowers are so tiny that you barely notice them. Soon the leaves will begin to change colors as the leaves mature.
Dicentra spectabilis
I have had this bleeding heart come back in my garden for over 40 years now. I transplanted it from my childhood home when my parents sold the house. It has dropped seeds and returned ever since then.
I love how it now has a few white hearts amongst the pink which happened right after my mom passed away. Perhaps that is her way of saying I am still with you. ♥
Common Tulip
Unfortunately I only have this one little bunch of yellow tulips left in my garden. I have too many deer that come through my yard from the woods behind my home. They happen to be one of their favorite snacks in early spring.
Daffodil
This is my favorite daffodil by far. I adore the tangerine frilly cup surrounding the stamens. I always get happy when I see the buds getting ready to open. This is one of the few bulbs that the deer leave alone, thankfully.
Arabis Rock Cress
I have a few different mounds of rock cress growing throughout my gardens. It always looks so pretty when it blooms in large mounds and falls over the edges of the rock gardens.
For some reason unknown to me I had one of my plants turn pink a few years back. I only have one small section that is pink but I really love having a different color to enjoy. Now that it is getting to be a nice size I am going to try and take some cuttings from it to start some new mounds.
Bradford Pear
I have one very large Bradford Pear that sits at the end of one of my raised beds. It is so full of beautiful flowers at the moment and what a lovely display it is.
The morning is passing quickly, the sun is shining brightly, and my yardwork is calling me.
Happy gardening everyone!
