The Spring rains have subsided for the moment and now the perennial plants are beginning to bloom. Summer has officially arrived and the gardens are bursting with color.

It never ceases to amaze me how quickly Spring flies by and the hot days of summer arrive.

The main butterfly garden is starting to bloom with the summer perennials just in time for the Monarchs to arrive. I have yet to see one in my garden this year and am wondering when they will arrive. The Milkweed is already 3' high and beginning to flower. This is their favorite plant to lay their eggs upon.

The heavy rains this week finished off my last peony bush and I will miss these flowers until next year.

It looks so dainty covered in tiny raindrops.

As the pink poppies are going to seed the Shasta Daisies are beginning to flower behind them. I will have to pull all the poppies out before the seed falls to the ground. Last year I had too many of them and they choked out many of my flowers.

One of my all-time favs is the Delphiniums. The tall spires are loaded with blossoms this year and I just love the bicolored flowers.

I used to have some that were pink and white and one that was a deep purple. This year I only have the pale lavender and blue with black centers. I will have to purchase some seeds to see if I can get a variety back into the garden scape.

The hanging basket with the multi-colored Verbena is doing fantastic. It is one of the baskets I purchased for myself this year. I think it is really enjoying all the rainfall we have had.

I just adore the vibrant red, especially with the white Verbena. This basket just speaks loudly of summer colors.

Thank you, everyone, for stopping in today to enjoy seeing this week's blossoms from the gardens. I want to mention one of my hive friends dswigle@dswigle who always encourages us to share a flower.

Until next time, this is Sunscape
