Can you guess what happens when you put up a nice-looking fence around your butterfly garden? That's right, your puppy fits right between the rails, oh my!
What's that smell?
I finally planted the annual flowers in this garden for the butterflies and the hummingbirds. I put up the fencing to keep the puppy out so as not to trample on my young plants. Well, it was only a few minutes later that she had to inspect all my efforts, both inside and outside the fence.
I was about to take a photo of the garden when she stood up on her back legs and started sniffing the Camassia flowers that had just opened. I snapped a photo of her contemplating what that new smell was.
As you can see she grabbed a stem and before I could stop her she started munching away on the petals.
Oh so tasty
I could not help but laugh as she began to devour the petals all the while trying to catch photos of her new adventure. If you are a fellow pet owner you know how much we enjoy watching them learn about their environment.
I was thankful that she only went after one stem on the plant and then she decided that she had had enough.
Naptime on the porch
Considering all the work that we both got accomplished it was time for a quick nap on the porch.
Butterfly garden
This is the main garden that I plant heavily with flowers just for the bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, and goldfinches. I thought for sure the fence was a good way to keep Mika out of the flowers, but alas she is still small enough to get through it. Hopefully, as the plants fill in she will hesitate to wander among them. Perhaps a bit of training is in order before she decides to eat all the flower blossoms.
Time will only tell how that will all play out, anyhow, this is what is left of the Camassia flower so far, lol.
Until next time, this is Sunscape
