Finally, a warm and sunny day after a week of rain. The plants enjoyed the fresh, warm air with the doors open all day.
It's hard to believe how big all the plants are getting already.
They are the perfect size to plant out into the garden, but they will have to hold off for another two-three weeks.
All the plants in the hydroponic tubs are getting quite large. I have already harvested some spinach and lettuce, next is the Bok Choi.
Some of the plants are flowering, the Fushia and Impatiens, and there are buds on the Marigolds and Boarder Zinnias too.
Raised Garden Beds
The Cabbage and Cauliflower plants standing by for planting in the largest raised bed.
They will be so much happier outside than in the warm greenhouse.
I have shade cloth to protect them and at night I can cover the hoops with heavy plastic if the temps get too low.
One of the new raised beds got planted with Yellow Spanish Onions. The one in the foreground has Red Onions, Cilantro, and a few Beets.
Once I got them all planted, I put shade cloth over them also just until they get established then I can remove it. I'm hoping that they will get enough sun being partially shaded by the Magnolia tree.
I still had a little energy left, I got the trays washed off and let them dry in the sun.
That was enough gardening for one day. Mika and I rested on the porch for a while enjoying watching the birds fixing their nesting boxes.
The Rose Hellebore is in full bloom in the butterfly garden. All the perennial plants seemed to have survived the harsh winter. Soon the annuals will go in the first part of May, and so the season begins for western, New York.
