This has been a very unusual fall season as the trees are all mainly golden. Normally, we have a very nice variety of reds, yellows, and oranges to brighten up the landscape. For some reason this year the red and orange are far and few between.
I walked around the yard and took a few photos before the rains came. I know from past years that the rain knocks the leaves off the trees this time of year.
This Sumac has a touch of red in the leaves which gives it some extra dimension.
The tree next to my greenhouse is just now beginning to show some color.
At the edge of my property is a stretch of woods where a lot of grapevines have taken over the trees. It does provide some pretty photos in the fall.
This tree sits at the edge of the woods too and actually has some darker oranges in it.
If I wish to see some nice reds in the fall landscape I can always count on the burning bush shrubs that are popular around the neighborhood.

I just love the texture of the dense bark on the tree with the golden leaves against it, oh so pretty to see.
I really don't have to go anywhere to enjoy the beauty of the fall season but only to walk around my entire yard.
I do have a little bit of red in the gardens and this is one of the Azalea bushes that I have.
Actually, once I really took a look around I had a variety of colors surrounding me. This is a branch from my Kousa Dogwood that has turned a beautiful rusty red. It is stunning against the bright blue sky.
This was a photo taken in early fall of the large berries from the Kousa. This is always one of the signs that fall is arriving here in western New York. Even though most of the trees are golden this year I still managed to find a few drops of color here and there.
I plan on taking a drive to see if I can find some areas that have some colorful trees. That will be for another post for this Wednesday's walkabout.
