Feathered Friends - Smap Round #105 - Small Bird by Sunscape
This young female enjoys the nectar from my feeder from early spring into mid-September. Then she will migrate a long distance, sometimes up to 3,000 miles away.
These tiny birds are the smallest found in the world and can live up to 10 years in the wild. I often have the same pair arrive year after year to rear their young in the brush behind my home. I have even seen the female gather cobwebs from leftover spiderwebs in the gardens. That is always a treat to see for me.
I am looking forward to seeing them arrive again this coming spring along with all the other birds that enjoy our New York summers.
Thank you @melinda and
@nelinoeva for this fun #smap contest. Have a great week everyone!
Until next time, this is Sunscape
