I am just having fun editing some photos from color to black and white.
I thought it would be interesting to see how much a photo can change by taking out all the distractions.
The photo in black and white really makes the crab stand out compared to the full-colored one don't you agree? I was having fun playing with the little crabs that would come up out of the sand on this beach in Jamaica.
Crab
Now, with this photo, I tend to think the original image looks better. I am not even sure why I like it more.
Frog
This is a female frog that lives in my little backyard pond.
In this photo I believe the black and white one stands out more than the above with all the green water.
Dogwood Tree
In this case, with all the bark peeling off the tree, you can see the subject better than in the black and white below. The tree tends to get lost without the green leaves to give the contrast.
Pinecones
I like both of the images equally on the pinecones. I did edit it in more of a softer shade rather than the stark black and white, as it looked much nicer to me this way.
Dead Tree
I took this photo of the dead tree overlooking the Grand Canyon in Arizona. I am not sure which one I like better, but the soft hues in the background make the image look really appealing to my eyes.
Marina
The sun was setting at this marina in Panama on one of my visits there.
Even though the sky is pretty the rest of the photo seemed blurry to me. Once I changed it to black and white the image seemed crispier.
Clouds
I have to say that the blue sky and white billowy clouds are definitely better in the natural than after being edited. I took this photo on my last visit to the park on Lake Ontario near my home. It was such a beautiful fall day and a walk along the water's edge was just so relaxing.
Well, these are just a few of the images I edited for fun. What do you think? Is there a favorite one that speaks to you? They sure do look a lot different than the original photos after changing them to black and white.
Perhaps as I go through my old images I will find some more to play around with. Lastly, I will share one of my Monarchs from this summer.
