It’s the weekend, and I thought it would be a good time to look back at some of the photos I took before. One of the things I enjoy about photography is being able to revisit old images and appreciate them again. Sometimes a photo feels different when you see it after some time has passed.
For today, I wanted to highlight the contrast in these images. This is one of the main reasons why black-and-white photography remains my favorite style. Without color, my attention goes directly to the shapes, textures, shadows, and highlights. Even the simplest subjects can suddenly look more dramatic once the image is converted into monochrome.
Flowers are always beautiful subjects to photograph as well. They already have interesting forms and delicate details, so I don’t really need to do much to make them stand out. In black and white, those details become even more noticeable. The petals, stems, dried parts, and even the tiny insects around them can add character to the scene.
I also like how some of these photos show flowers in different stages. Some are blooming, while others are already drying up. For me, both can be beautiful. Photography doesn’t always have to show something perfect. Sometimes the imperfect and ordinary parts of nature are what make an image more interesting.
Looking back at these photos reminds me why I continue enjoying this style. Black-and-white photography gives me a simple way to turn everyday subjects into something that feels more expressive.
