It is hard to believe that it is now past the middle of August here in N.Y. I do not know how summer flew by so quickly. Where does the time go anyway? We have had some cooler temperatures this week which is quite normal for us this time of year.

The gardens were beautiful all through spring and summer while still putting on a great show going into September.

Goldfinch

The Red Salvia flowers are full of seeds at this time and now the Goldfinches are enjoying snacking on them. I even noticed that the sparrows are doing the same. It is fun to watch them throughout the day.

Robins

Every day the birds come and enjoy taking baths in the pond next to the porch. Often, I sit with my camera trying to get some interesting photos of them doing so. This Robin comes often and now is bringing its young ones too.

Porchtime

This is where I spend my afternoons after all the chores are done. It gives me such joy to be able to be outside watching so many different birds and butterflies.

Butterfly Garden

This is the garden that is directly across from my porch. This is my favorite one as I get to enjoy the flowers and all the creatures that visit it every day. After having dinner I enjoy sitting with my husband on our back porch watching the fireflies come out. Dusk is such a peaceful time of the day and a great way to spend some quality time with family.

Bumblebees

This little bee has been gathering pollen from all the zinnia flowers. He is full of pollen dust and looks so funny at the moment.

Phlox

Many of the summer flowers are beginning to die back and I have been busily cutting them down. Soon there will not be many flowers left for the insects to enjoy.

I can already tell that fall is approaching since the yellow jackets have taken over the hummingbird feeder. They have been swarming it trying to get the nectar out of it. The hummingbirds have to fight their way against the bees. I watched them after they fly from the feeder and found that they were going under the eve at the top of my roof, ugh!

Raspberries

With all the rainfall this summer, we have not had to water the gardens but a couple of times. The berry bushes have loved all the rain and this year the raspberry harvest has been bountiful. We are about to get a very heavy flush for the month of September. They have been very sweet this year and will make wonderful jam and syrup.

Tomatoes

Every two days I have to harvest all the plum tomatoes along with plenty of cherry ones too. I have been processing them every week now and will continue doing so for the next month. I plan on making lots of pizza sauce and a few different hot sauces too. The peppers are loaded down so much that I had to stake them all. Soon I will be picking a lot of orange, yellow, and red ones.

The day is young and I have tomatoes to process so off I go to get to work. Have a wonderful weekend my friends.

Until next time, this is Sunscape
