My sketch: Masada. Masada is in the Judean desert, alone the Dead Sea, not too far from Jerusalem, a perfect day trip. A MUST for all tourists to visit there, especially famous for watching the sunrise. However, Masada's historical background is a moving story. In Jesus' time, King Herod built a mighty fortress there, then about 100 years later, the Jews revolted against the Roman Empire. Roman soldiers built camps at the base of the cliff and besiege it. , the Jews saw the forth coming disaster. They preferred to die as free men instead of yielding to Romans and be sold as slaves. They choose to commit suicide.
Who will cherish the past? After almost 2000 years of isolation, now the place is crowded with tourists taking selfies......
