Both my sons worked the food manufacturing plants for two, three years, there's always something that goes wrong on a regular basis, especially among the larger plants. Usually they just got put onto another line or department if there's a need but it's wasn't unusual either to be sent home, sometimes a day or two until they could get what went wrong fixed. There is close to forty thousand food processing plants in the US, it's going to take more than 100 things going wrong before it disrupts the system.
