I was wondering about my grandsons pumpkin plants he grew, I didn't know if I wasn't seeing any pumpkins was due to having planted them from the seeds of the pumpkins he grew last year. Seems they were just behind a bit because we didn't plant them as early. I wondered because an elderly lady friend of mine once told me they do something to the plants that produce seeds so they won't reproduce so they force you to buy seeds, I didn't know if that was true but evidently not in this case. I've always heard you don't get them in early they won't be ripe for Halloween, maybe that's if you plan on taking them to market to sell before Halloween as they look to be doing pretty good at getting ripe despite the late start. He has a couple big ones out there that may need another week or so but I think they will make it quite well....if not one can't have enough pumpkin puree handy for the holidays, demand for pumpkin bread is high along with pie and muffins.
