I'm a knife guy and I love a good quality knife. I bought my first knife around 1989 for a camping trip with a couple friends. It's a fixed blade Kershaw that I still use on occasion and take with every time I travel (except by air).
As a professional chef, knives are also the tools of the trade and as you might imagine, I've seen/owned/used 100s of knives in my 20+ years of working in restaurants. I learned early on (the hard way) not to bring my best knives to work and leave them out of site for even a minute, though I do still have the 10" WÜSTHOF chefs knife my folks gave me when I graduated cooking school in 1999 :)
Now that I am thinking of it, we all use knives, in fact you probably used one today, or at some point this week, in your own kitchen. So when I say there is nothing like a good quality, sharp knife when it come to cutting food, you know what I mean.
But I digress, because this is a post about a new, assisted-opening pocket knife I just picked up made by Kershaw.
Check this bad boy out.
It has a 3.4 in. (8.6 cm) 8Cr13MoV Steel blade with a stonewash finish. The handle front is glass-filled nylon with a steel pivot overlay and a stainless steel back. The overall length is 7.75 in. (19.7 cm).
My favorite part of this knife is the cleaver style blade. This is the first cleaver blade pocket knife I've owned and I can't wait to use it.
I definitely need to do some camping this summer!
