It goes like this...
There's a billboard in my town advertising a brewery about 80 miles east of me with "legit pizza". It's kind of a plain yellow billboard with the name of the place, the freeway exit and the tag line. Simple, but it works for that very reason.
I pass it many times a week and more often than not I say to myself, "self, you should go out there one Saturday afternoon."
Well, today was that Saturday. Last night I was thinking of what I had to do today and the list was quite short, with nothing I couldn't postpone. So after some morning rollerblading and coffee out with a friend I came home, kicked my one chore in the ass and got my stuff together for an hour and fifteen minute drive to the brewery and some legit pizza :D
I even remembered to grab my growler to fill at the brewery!
The drive was great. I was on highway 84 heading east, windows down and stereo LOUD. Traffic was moving too boy! Posted limit is 70mph but most the way the flow was 80-85mph. this got me to town in about an hour ⚡️
Got a couple snaps on the way as well. If you don't know, highway 84 in Oregon follows the Oregon Washington border for a couple hundred miles, so my 80+ miles today was right down the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. This first snap is of the Columbia, where the Deschutes river empties into it. The Deschutes is famous for it's fishing, locally and I thing nationally as well.
If you want an idea of just how popular fall chinook and summer steelhead fishing are at the mouth of the Deschutes, just zoom in on this photo and count the boats...ALL the boats xD
A little further down the road, and across the river on the Washington side is the Maryhill Museum of Art. It's up there on the bluff in the right-center of this photo under the wind turbines... D'ya see it?
This is an awesome museum and place to visit, I've posted about it many times. One more view for perspective.
Just down the road a piece is something built by the same guy that built the Maryhill Museum (though, at the time he was not building a museum, he was building a house!!!) it's a replica Stonehenge, built to scale!
I've posted about this as well and yes, it is every bit as freaking cool as it sounds and yes you can just wander around it for free. It was actually built as a memorial to the folks from the area that died in world war 1.

As you can see, it was a beautiful drive east and with the tunes and the fresh air I was really excited to get to the brewery, have some pizza and beer and celebrate #beersaturday with you.
But, alas, it was not meant to be.
So, before I wrap this up I will mention that I did check the hours of the establishment before I made the drive and yeah, of course they're opened on a Saturday afternoon, they even have funny hours which I thought was a clever way to stand out a bit...
So sitting in my car, stunned, in a vacant brewery parking lot with noting but the "closed" neon sign flashing in the window, I gave the brewery that serves "legit pizza" a quick review.
