I am always excited when I find a new tool or resource that makes my Steem experience better.
Problem: Picking A Comment For a Steem Giveaway
Solution: Use Steem Comment Picker
I have not done a lot of giveaways, but I have done enough to know that they can be a pain in your rear to organize. Steem Comment Picker is a simple and functional resource for people who need to randomly select a comment from a Steem post.
Before I continue, I want to let you know that I am not sure who to give credit to for creating this tool. The Steem Comment Picker website does not appear to reference the creator.
The Process
Enter a properly formatted link
- This is my original link.
https://steemit.com/palnet/@sumatranate/curation-connectedness-commitment-and-confidence - This is the properly formatted link. The user needs to remove everything before the user name.
@sumatranate/curation-connectedness-commitment-and-confidence
Pick the selection mode that is most appropriate.
- Pick random winner - this option will pick a random comment from your post
- Top voted - this option will select the comment that has received the most votes
- Top engaged - this option will select the comment that has the most engagement (I am not sure how this is calculated)
- Top earned - this option will select the comment with the highest potential payout
Other features
- Copy link to clipboard - this option will copy the link of the comment that was selected based on the options chosen above
- Open comment - this option will open the link of the comment that was selected based on the options chosen above in the Steemit.com frontend
Other Thoughts
Steem Comment Picker also provides you with the number of unique commenters who interacted with your post.
This tool does appear to select comments at random based on my testing. But as is the case with any random selection tool, the person making the selection could manipulate the results by running the tool multiple times.
I am excited to have found Steem Comment Picker. I hope it will help many people who are running giveaways. And if you know who created this resource, let me know so that I can say thank you!
