Times are changing. And depending on who you ask, some people are excited about the changes that HardFork 21 will bring. Others, well, not so much.

This post provides you my back story about why I am a member of the Steem community. There are also someone questions at the end of this post. It would be a lot to me if you provided me some feedback by answering some or all of those questions.

Why I Came?

I stumbled upon Steemit.com in June 2017 after taking a leave of absence from the job I had at the time. I was unemployed, and I was depressed. I am talking about being in a deep rabbit hole of self-disgust and despair.

Trust me! I was in a bad place. And then I ran across the Steem famous promise of "come and make some money." I knew a little bit about crypto, but I had never blogged. I had never consistently written in a journey. But the opportunity was what I needed. It has been a life changing experience.

Why I Have Stayed?

Well, if you talk to enough members of the Steem community, you will quickly realize that most of us have not become millionaires (at least not yet). We all have some great stories about a post or two that received payouts more than we could imagine. @Curie dropped by and dropped upvotes on 2 of my post (that is when a @curie vote could mean a payout would be up to $100).

I have endured the wild ride - the crazy mania at the end of 2017 when SBD jumped over $10, and I am still here as the price of Steem has dropped below 40 cents (again). I have stuck around because I have found community (yes, the people), and I have deeply appreciated the opportunity to be creative (both for my personal development and as a form of therapy). I create posts because I feel better when I do, and I hope I add some value to my supportive readers.

Why Will I Stay?

This is a tough question to answer. With the changes proposed in HF21 and will all the possibilities that await us in the future, I am not convinced that I will devote 100% of my Steem resources to blogging and creating content. Already there is a myriad of opportunities, and I hope that there will be many more to come.

I will stay as long as there is still a chance to make a difference in my life and in the lives of others. I believe in Steem, but I am not so committed to the idea that Steem will always be what we see it being today.

As For Now...

At this very moment, I will keep creating. I will create for my own benefit, and I will create for yours. I will try to share life in such a meaningful way that it inspires you and helps you move forward. I will share my life stories and experiences so that you don't have to relive my mistakes. I will share with you my joys so that we can celebrate together.

And I will read your stories, watch your videos, view your creations, and give you a little nudge of support - a digital "keep up the good work." Steem is a platform, a community, a movement, and dare I say, a potential revolution.

I have enjoyed the ride so far (through thick and thin). I look forward to many more adventures in the future.
