That gas station I buy from is a former Texaco station and I know the owners. He still gets his fuel from Texaco, same trucks deliver it, he just doesn't pay the extra "franchise tax" on each gallon to sell as "Texaco " station. He said depending on where a station is located the extra "franchise tax" Texaco charges their dealers can from 5 to 8 cents a gallon. So he just passes thru the savings to his customers and will usually be the lowest cost in the area.

The Shell station down the street from him is at $1.499 so if "brand name" is a concern for folks they aren't paying much more here in the grand scheme of things.

We have a big advantage because we have so many major refiners right here in the area blending fuel and so we have little expense getting it from the refineries to the gas stations. I guess that is why yours is considerably more expensive out there.

Yard workers are essential as they fall under the "building trades and construction" segment. Politicians don't want to have to mow their own yard or weed eat , so it makes perfect sense.

But I'll also say, the products I sell are used by plenty of landscape & irrigation companies so I am grateful they can work right now and I'm still employed and making money while this virus is going on.
