Daybreak is an Murican post-apocalyptic Dramedy series created by Brad Peyton and Aron Eli Coleite. It's very very loosely based on a graphic novel, which truly doesn't share much similarities except "Apocalypse + Zombies + Main character breaking 4th wall". So checking out the novel/comics is not something you really need to do to get understanding.
The series is quite funny at times, visually great and plot isn't half bad either. But it is truly ridden with lot of political undertones and democrat dogwhistling, it managed to somehow insert in subjects about, female president, donald trump, syria, aleppo, climate change, feminist empowerment among other woke subjects that really got tiresome after a while.
Not going to spoil the very ending scene, but it truly ruined the whole season for me and really all motives behind the main character.
