Rakshabandhan is a Hindu festival celebrated with a lot of pomp and show. The tradition talks about celebrating the bond of love between brothers and sisters.
Brothers are expected to be the support system for their sisters, protect them from any pain or trouble and stand strong with them in every situation of life. Sisters pray for the well-being and long and healthy life of their brothers.
Sisters tie a thread (Rakhi) on their brother's wrist, put a red teeka on the forehead, offer sweets, and prays to God for their long life. Brothers offer gifts to their sisters to show their love.
This is how we celebrated the festival.
Although traditionally, the festival is supposed to cherish the relationship between brothers and sisters but these days, because not all of us have brothers and sisters, and also because festivals are beyond traditions and more about love, this festival is celebrated between sisters and brothers too.
Since Raag doesn't have a sister yet, we made him celebrate this festival with my sister's baby boy who is the cousin brother for Raag.
They couldn't tie Rakhi to each other because they are too young so I and my sister did that for them.
Both I and my sister gifted clothes to my brother, to make him happy and in return, he gave us gift cards(because he couldn't decide what to get for us 馃榿
