Raksha Bandhan is not about Rakhi. It's about that one promise.
We grew up fighting for the TV remote, for the last piece of mithai, for who will tell Mumma first.
And then life happened.
You went to college, I went to a job. You moved to another city. Calls became once a week. Then once a month.
But yesterday you called and said - "Bhaiya, Rakhi pe aaoge na?"
And suddenly I am 10 years old again.
In Lucknow, sisters are already crowding Hazratganj for rakhis, brothers are checking their bank balance and smiling.
This festival is beautiful because it has no caste, no religion, no show-off. Just a thread that says:
"I may not say it daily, but if anything happens to you, I will be there before anyone else."
To all sisters - You are not just someone's sister. You are someone's first friend, first enemy, and forever protector.
To all brothers - Gift toh de dena, but give her what she actually wants: Respect for her choices, support for her dreams, and a promise that you will stand by her, not just stand for her.
Happy Raksha Bandhan in advance! ❤️
Is baar aap apni behen ko kya gift de rahe ho?
