In the tiny hamlet of Legerwood family and friends in 1918 planted 9 trees to pay tribute to locals who had died in WW1.
In 1999 the trees had become a safety risk, so Eddie Freeman a local skilled chainsaw carver brought the soldiers back to life in his sculptures. Thus the memory lives on.
