This game was out an "out of the blue" hit to be honest, everybody was dismissing the game based on the cover back in the day. Until the game shop owner boot up the game on a Playstation and just let people browser around the shop to watch.
The game has some very fun mechanics and that soundtrack was just the right kind of cheese to get you pumped up.
Controls is a little bit primitive by the time of its release since Dualshock Analog controllers were available. So the camera is also affected as well.
Negatives aside, the fun hack and slash running around action is awesome. When you defeat a stage boss, you get into this "Finishing" segment where by you smash you buttons and dpad like crazy to get the numbers going up before smashing X and Square buttons to slash the poor guy to bits.
Great use of a turbo function on the controller if it has one. Anyway this game is such a gem really, you should try it out as well.
The Japanese copy of the game is the version i'm playing and it's perfectly OK for English speakers. Yeah you won't understand what the Jackal clan enemies are saying but I don't think you have to right?
Destroy them and move on while going super saiyan making your katana longer and increase movement speed. What more do you want?
