Hi, I hope you are having a beautiful day. Today I want to share with you my participation in the
@celfmagazine contest called Fotocelf. As I have mentioned in other occasions, photography is something I love and I consider it a wonderful hobby, it is one of my favorite activities.
Es mi primera vez participando en un concurso de este tipo por lo que además de sentir una gran emoción, también tenía mucha curiosidad y ganas de ver qué se me ocurría, afortunadamente luego de crear una lista de más de veinte ideas de temáticas distintas, di con lo que pueden ver hoy aquí. Un resultado que sinceramente me gustó muchísimo, fue una experiencia inigualable porque si bien suelo hacer fotos, el propósito de estas era distinto.
This is my first time participating in a contest of this kind, so in addition to feeling a great excitement, I was also very curious and eager to see what I could come up with, fortunately after creating a list of more than twenty ideas of different themes, I came up with what you can see here today. A result that I honestly liked a lot, it was a unique experience because although I usually take pictures, the purpose of these was different.
Además el tema del concurso son las luces, cosa que amé porque hace como un mes y medio compré unas, justamente con la idea de hacer fotos. Tomando todo lo que he mencionado hasta ahora en cuenta, sentí que era mi momento por decirlo de alguna manera. Todos los elementos son cosas que me encantan y juntos lucen increíbles, así que era ahora o nunca.
Besides, the theme of the contest is lights, which I loved because about a month and a half ago I bought some, just with the idea of taking pictures. Taking everything I have mentioned so far into account, I felt it was my moment so to speak. All the elements are things I love and together they look amazing, so it was now or never.
Ya entrado en la idea que decidí desarrollar, en esta ocasión tomé como concepto la exteriorización del aspecto interno de un ser. Con la idea de reflejar todo el daño que está persona ha sufrido y a su vez la luz que aún permanece en ella, sé que soy yo pero lo digo así para generalizar porque esto es algo con lo que más de uno se puede identificar, aunque yo sea la modelo o así lo veo.
Already into the idea that I decided to develop, this time I took as a concept the externalization of the inner aspect of a being. With the idea of reflecting all the damage that this person has suffered and at the same time the light that still remains in her, I know it's me but I say it this way to generalize because this is something that more than one can identify with, although I am the model or so I see it.
Por esta razón usé este vestuario en particular, que originalmente lo confeccioné con la idea de hacer un Dance Cover de I'm not cool de Hyuna porque uno de los outfits que ella utiliza en el vídeo musical es más o menos así. Me pareció perfecto para este concepto porque el lado izquierdo tiene una serie de orificios y la pierna derecha está prácticamente descubierta, me gustó esto porque sentí que era una buena manera de representar las huellas que han quedado en esta persona debido a las experiencias difíciles que ha vivido con el paso del tiempo y a la vez mostrar que pese a esto algunas de sus partes siguen intactas.
For this reason I used this particular costume, which I originally put together with the idea of doing a Dance Cover of Hyuna's I'm not cool because one of the outfits she uses in the music video is more or less like that. It seemed perfect for this concept because the left side has a series of holes and the right leg is practically uncovered, I liked this because I felt it was a good way to represent the traces that have been left on this person due to the difficult experiences she has lived through over time and at the same time show that despite this some of her parts are still intact.
Considero que es buen contraste dado que todos sufrimos por razones diferentes y suelen haber aspectos que no se ven afectados o tal vez si pero no al punto de dejar daños visibles. La clave para lograr darle sentido a toda esta idea, fueron las luces, las cuales usé para darle fuerza a las partes que siguen brillando en medio de las adversidades.
I think it is a good contrast given that we all suffer for different reasons and there are often aspects that are not affected or maybe yes but not to the point of leaving visible damage. The key to make sense of this whole idea, were the lights, which I used to give strength to the parts that continue to shine in the midst of adversity.
Aunque el significado que tiene para mí, se basa en una decisión que está por ser tomada. Esta persona ha sufrido tanto que no sabe si abandonar su luz por completo al guardarla en la botella o aferrarse a ella para seguir adelante, encontrar una manera de que las cosas empiecen a mejorar y a dirigirse rumbo al lugar que ella desea. Traté de crear una escena que mostrara el peso que esto tiene en ella, así como lo difícil e importante que es tomar dicha decisión.
Although the meaning it has for me is based on a decision that is about to be taken. This person has suffered so much that she doesn't know whether to abandon her light completely by keeping it in the bottle or to hold on to it to move forward, find a way for things to start getting better and heading towards the place she wants. I tried to create a scene that would show the weight this has on her, as well as how difficult and important it is to make such a decision.
Siendo así, puedo decir que la botella fue un elemento esencial porque a través de ella puede darle mucho más sentido al concepto. Como podrán notar tiene una etiqueta que dice Luz Interna en inglés, está la hice con una cartulina blanca y marcadores negros, me aseguré de escoger un tamaño que me permitiera cubrir la etiqueta que trae la botella, al pegar con cinta adhesiva un trozo de papel semitransparente en la misma para luego colocarlo a contraluz y marcar así la forma de la etiqueta nueva, seguido a esto volteé la hoja y con un lápiz 3B rayé todas las áreas que correspondían con la forma que había hecho para así colocarlo encima de la cartulina, remarcar y luego recortar. Si desean hacer algo parecido, pueden saltar el paso de lápiz oscuro al transferir la forma con ayuda de un papel carbón.
Being so, I can say that the bottle was an essential element because through it I can give much more sense to the concept. As you may notice it has a label that says Internal Light, I made it with a white cardboard and black markers, I made sure to choose a size that would allow me to cover the label that comes with the bottle, by gluing a piece of semitransparent paper on it and then place it against the light to mark the shape of the new label, then I flipped the sheet and with a 3B pencil I scratched all the areas that corresponded with the shape I had made to place it on the cardboard, highlight it and then cut it out. If you want to do something similar, you can skip the dark pencil step by transferring the shape with the help of a carbon paper.
Luego marqué las letras con lápiz y después con marcador, también usé este último para hacer una especie de borde o marco, luego pegué la etiqueta a la botella con silicón frío y finalmente mezclé pintura escarchada magenta y rosada para cubrir otra etiqueta que tenía la botella, dejé secar todo y agregué parte de las luces blancas.
Then I marked the letters with pencil and then with marker, I also used the latter to make a kind of border or frame, then I glued the label to the bottle with cold silicone and finally I mixed magenta and pink glitter paint to cover another label that had the bottle, I let everything dry and added part of the white lights.
El resto fue maquillarme, vestirme, ubicar todo los elementos necesarios y empezar a tomar las fotos. Cada una de las fotografías fueron tomadas por mi, con la cámara trasera de mi Tecno Camon 17 Pro, configuré el temporizador en 3 segundos y realicé los disparos con los botones de subir y bajar volumen, también usé un aro de luz de 12 pulgadas con la luz blanca lo más tenue posible. El fondo es una sábana azul, que es uno de mis fondos habituales y en edición cambié el tono e hice el resto de modificaciones, todo esto en la app Polarr y para finalizar utilicé Remini para aumentar la calidad de las fotos.
The rest was to put on my makeup, get dressed, place all the necessary elements and start taking the pictures. Each of the pictures were taken by me, with the back camera of my Tecno Camon 17 Pro, I set the timer to 3 seconds and took the shots with the volume up and volume down buttons, I also used a 12 inch light ring with the white light as dim as possible. The background is a blue sheet, which is one of my usual backgrounds and in editing I changed the tone and did the rest of the modifications, all this in the Polarr app and finally I used Remini to increase the quality of the photos.
Realmente ya no me queda mucho por decir, salvo que espero que al igual que a mí les haya gustado lo que hice.
