I have an ongoing project Called 'From This Side of the Pond'. It's a collection of essays about places, people, and things to be found in the United States of America, all from the perspective of a UK person who's never been there.

As of this week I have 15 essays written. The one I completed this week is on Paul Harvey, a man who spent nearly 60 years in radio and television as a news reporter and commentator. You can read it here

By now I had hoped to have nearer 50 essays written and be in the process of recording them - I wrote a little time back about choosing music for the project - however the unusual circumstances we've had and the move and sorting the house out means recording is still some way off.

That's fine, it gives me chance to get more written (Next up is the state of Georgia - if anyone reading this is from there hit me up with some weird fact I wont easily find on the internet).

This started as something I did on twitter spaces. About six weeks ago I quit twitter, full quit. It was becoming too much about the drama of the new owner and less about being the social media network I'd enjoyed, and that was before the spaces stability issues began to creep back up to the early days of the spaces project.

The title is pretty self explanatory. 'The pond' has been cross cultural US/UK slang for the Atlantic ocean since as early as the 17th century, before there was a USA! My picture is one I licensed from Kirsten Alana. She has one rule about me using it. It CANNOT be used in any form of NFT project. She really hates NFT.I would dearly love to have the essays picked up by a publisher, and for Kirsten to be the photographer for the project.

Heck, I should do it as a kickstarter.

Anyway, after a hiatus created by the move I'm back into writing the essays. The rest will follow.
