I was completely captivated. I don't really like horror, but this was more like you say in your profile - unsettling.
Sometimes I read to support others, and when I get halfway through and it is not keeping my attention, I feel awful, but I have to begin scanning a bit to get through it all.

I find myself taking a look at the scroll bar at the side and thinking, oh. I hope we are nearly there.

Yours was the opposite. I looked at the scroll bar hoping that it had a long way to go before we reached the end! Excellent story!
