I know that here in America people are a little celebrity obsessed. How can we not be? It's so ingrained in our culture. We love seeing the videos, documentaries,or even gossip shows and tabloids. Maybe it all started with "Dynasty". Who knows? One thing is for sure, most of us dream of living the " American Dream". Of " making it" whether that means having more money than we can spend, or just living a life not being worried about how we will care for our family.
I spent half of my life working for an Entertainment Law Firm in NYC. It was called Tanner Propp LLP., located at 40th Street and Park Avenue. It's still around, but in Times Square now. I loved working there. I met a lot of good people. Stars like Woody Harrelson, Michael Douglas, Anthony Micheal Hall, J-lo, Eddie Palmieri, Russell Simmons and so many others. The list is too long to even name for the 12 years I was there.
It was of course tacky to take pics. It wasn't ever my style anyway. I saw them like anyone else, and for the most part they were. I still hold great memories though. Memories like those of Altovise Davis (the widow of Sammie Davis Jr.) who was one of the sweetest women I've ever come across.
I've been fortunate, even with all of the bad things that have happened in my life to never have gotten caught up in the drugs that my older siblings did. Who ever knew that a kid from Spanish Harlem could ever have a life with so many experiences in it. I didn't when I was younger.
Here is a pic I took of my spouse @majikthought with Joan Rivers (who was a sweetheart) a few years ago.
I'm not the only one who has met a celebrity, my spouse met some before meeting me. Most of them were from his hood in Queens. Peeps like LL Cool J., KRS 1, Foxy Brown, Lil Kim, and some others.
So, have you guys ever met a celebrity? If you have, let me know in the comments. I 'd love to see if we've met some of the same ones.
Be well my people!
