This photo has always struck me as somewhat desolate looking ever since I took it.
Regardless of that it is still a beautiful landscape. I took this a few years ago on the way up Old Rag Mountain in Shenandoah National Park.
It's a beautiful hike and rewards the hiker with views like this at various points of the journey.
