Soulless purple face spaceman,
He doesn't want us to be free.
But he can't stop our hero,
And his super rockin melody!
This super rockin Marvel fan,
Bending space and time,
Fighting Wars and battles,
Defeating your foes and mine!
That's right, I'm pretty jazzed up about this new addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. From the moment I picked up the graphic novel "The Infinity Gauntlet ", I was hooked. Especially from the cover alone.
The Infinity Gauntlet holds six infinity stones, each being the makeup of the universe: space, time, reality, power, mind, and soul. It's an interesting story from a villain's point of view as well, as he promotes his dominance in order to try and win the love of Lady Death. Suddenly, my bro, Silver Surfer, crashes on the scene in a battered state to warn our favorite heroes of the incoming threat, Thanos. Of course, all the Marvel heroes had to band together and figure out a scenario to eliminate this danger for the entire universe. Unfortunately, it does not go as planned and they all meet an untimely defeat.
Nevertheless, that does not stall hope with an effort to call in the big guns. Characters referred to as Eternals and Celestials that hold the sanctity and balance of the universe step in with their efforts and meet their match. Something this momentous must be recorded and watched by one such character as well, the Watcher!
As everyone is aware, books never adapt well on the big screen and I don't expect this one to either. However, that is not the point. The MCU takes its own direction with these familiar heroes and do not disappoint. This is an event that has been building for quite some time. Whether you are a fan of the comics, or just the movies, or just appeal to a single character, I think it's safe to say entertainment will be at its highest this weekend.
Enjoy!
