This is a friendly post to remind people that it's not a good idea to work on your roof at night. It's not because you won't be able to do the same work, in the same amount of time, in the same quality, as in the day. Generally, roof repair happens during a dry season, like summer, so it sounds like a fantastic idea to wait until night, so it would be cooler.

You see, roofing is a very physical job, so it just makes sense that you would want to do it at a time when it's cooler outside. This helps prevent sunburn, heatstroke, heat exhaustion, and just mental exhaustion in general. It's important not to succumb to mental exhaustion when you're working on a roof because it's a very important part of a home. If it's not done right, elements that fall from the sky, such as water in its different forms, can go inside your home.

When that happens, it creates undesirable effects, namely an increase in thermal conductivity, when in contact with your skin, that cannot be balanced out with your air conditioner. This is because the TC of water vs air is 0.6 vs 0.025 W/(m·K) at 20 degrees celsius.
Also, the effect of rain on your home structure and internal belongings causes a negative effect. Rain can eventually cause mold, rust, electrical shorts, warping, slippery surfaces, bacteria, the value of your home to decrease, your family not wanting to live in the home you provided them, etc.

It's not because working on your roof at night is loud. It's one of the reasons, but not the real reason. Many people are loud at night, namely the people awake at night that engage in social activities. So really, hammering and yelling as you drink beer on the roof isn't the reason to wait until morning.

It's not because you can't get a beer after 2 am. Drinking alcohol is very important when you're working on a roof, especially if you're a contractor with a tight deadline. Without stopping work every ten minutes to smoke and drink, you just won't be as happy as you can be on the job. You may also experience some physical discomfort. No, this isn't the reason. It just requires a little more planning, like bringing a cooler to set on the homeowners' lawn for eight or so hours.
No, no, no, it's so you don't fall off.
