Friday lunch in Brandon, Vermont. Another lovely New England town, another white steeple rising to the sky 🙂 This is the Congregational Church built in 1831. It has a bell that still chimes the hours. A fun bit of charm if you are walking around downtown.
Here is the Methodist Church built in 1876. They were working on the paint this summer. I guess they didn't finish 😉
The Neshobe River run through town and crosses under the mainstreet. This water fall is in a park just off Center Street.
Here's a shot down Center Street. We had lunch at Cafe Provence.
This Civil War Monument was erected in 1886 to commemorate the 54 local men who died in the war. Vermont contributed heavily to the Civil War effort with over 10% of its pre-war population serving. That was one of the highest per-capita enlistments in the Union.
Center Street turns and heads towards the Brandon Inn.
Many New England towns have large old hotels like the Brandon Inn.
The current Brandon Inn was built in 1892 after the previous building was burned in a fire. The 1786 date goes back to the Neshobe Tavern which stood at this same location.
One of the many charming store fronts in Brandon is the Artist Guide.
It is an active artists Co-op with members displaying their work. Often one of the artist is in the Co-op if you stop in.
I love the welcoming sidewalks in the downtown area.
Brandon is a very walkable town. This is in front of the Brandon Inn.
Here's a church I could attend 😆
What a lovely New England small town!
