Buildings often are meant to convey a message.
Government buildings are meant to impress maybe even intimidate.
The White Memorial Chapel stands near the Capitol building in Salt Lake City. Many churches share a similar design. Pointing or at least directing your attention towards heaven. This one looks almost like a rocketship perhaps you and literally go inside and take a ride skyward 馃槅
Many of these shots were taken because they looked really good with the big sky backdrop the day I visited. I don't know the history of the Mormon Battalion but the monument's message is that their contribution was obviously significant, probably bigger than life and maybe even mythical.
Other buildings just have the right vibe. Like this laid back, funky gift shop in Moab.
Or the Back of Beyond bookshop "inspired by the name of Seldom Seen Smith鈥檚 outfitting company." Seldom Seen Smith 馃槀馃ぃ馃槀
