I've been wondering the same thing the past several months after I noticed an interesting dynamic in my behavior. While I'm more financially invested in other coins, I actually use STEEM and its dApps WAY more often than anything else.

I fully internalized this a couple days ago when I read this article...

Ethereum and EOS Only Have 8 dApps Combined with 300+ Active Users

https://www.ccn.com/ethereum-and-eos-only-have-8-dapps-combined-with-300-active-users/

This was a surprise read for me, but it makes sense when considering what I personally do. With the exception of EOS Knights, all of the decentralized apps I use are on the STEEM blockchain.

STEEM might not last in the long run, but it's certainly King of content & users now. And that might have something to do with not needing crypto in order to use any application on the platform (why STEEM Power exists.) Whereas you need to spend Ether for smart contracts and stake EOS for resources.

Needing to spend or stake crypto is a pretty huge barrier of entry to ignore.
