Character and temptation: God don't tempt but devil does
What Is temptation? Temptation is a pressure applied to create wrong emotion that will lead to wrong action.
According to mattew 4:3 and james 1:13, Jesus was tempted by the devil and not God. People with their funny attitude thinks God tempt human being, as we can see in james 1:13" let no man say when he is tempted, "i am tempted by God", for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempts". God do test and not tempt but devil tempt. Note this, when God test, it is to bring out the best in us but on the contrary, devil tempt to bring out the worst in us.
Temptation is just like an examination that determines the strength of character, that he or she must pass to rise in destiny. And you know devil as a crafty human being, he tempt us more in the area of our weakness and not strength-james 1:14-15, so you have to be careful, keep yourself away from sin so that devil won't see fault in you nor weakness.
The battle field where temptation is fought is the mind, and every temptation that comes across you is to dethrone God in your life, but the devil is a liar.
There are several types of temptations:
- Temptation that comes based on the developmental stages of your life. Heb 4:15
- Temptation peculiar to spiritual weight: any temptation that comes your way can be overcome by you because, it cant exceed your power or weight to overcome.
- Temptation at different seasons of our life
- Temptation based on cravings at some specific junctions of our life.
- Temptation based on human revolution and development
- Temptation that comes based on the generation you found yourself.
In conclusion, you have to surrender youself to christ, so that you wont fall into devils trap and most especially watch and pray. I pray for God to strengthen you and give you the grace not fall into temptation in Jesus name amen. Stay bless.
