This songs speaks a large volume to my fiancé and I.
I remember before this song was released in 2011, the only song I’ve ever heard from Simple Plan was “Welcome To My Life”.
But even then, it was a song from a rock band, and that song marked an impression of a life that is very broke down and dysfunctional, (the untouched genre) and me, being the typical Chinese girl, only listens to ballad / pop. Haha, decided that maybe Simple Plan is not my type of music.
Fast forward to May 2011, this song Jet lag, was just released fresh from the oven. Coincidently, my fiancé was preparing to go to USA for a 3 months of short training.
Back then, we weren’t in a relationship. But really great friends.
So then, he asked me to listen to this song.
This song changed my whole perspective of Simple Plan, and I immediately fancy them.
The song came in timely, because the time difference from USA to Malaysia is about 13 hours, and keeping in touch ain't easy.
So I planned to do a duet with my fiancé, and believe it or not, we sang it in airport before he boarded and departed to USA.
I handmade the mic myself haha! Looks more like an ice-cream though :/
The preparation for the duet is legit! I was very serious about it.
I wanted to chicken out. There was no guitar. And suddenly singing this with him in accappella, sounds pretty awkward. Haha in the end, we played the song, and sang along, like a karaoke version.
Don’t ask me why, I forgot! Haha
Maybe just me being playful.
So then last week, my friends and I tried to cover this song since this song brings so such memories and sentiment to us.
Talk about recording a cover during midnight! I literally work like a zombie the next day.
So hopefully, you will enjoy this cover as much as us recording it. :)
