Stemng Digest: Week #2
Time flies when you are having fun, please we would like to welcome you all to the second week of @stemng's weekly digest update.
Stemng is a sub-community of steemSTEM, a community-driven project which seeks to promote well-written and informative Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics posts by Nigerians on Steemit. The project involves submitting quality STEM-related posts to the steemSTEM management for upvoting and resteeming where applicable.
For more information about stemng, click here and here for information of what it means to be part of steemSTEM.
There are tons of excellent post on the #stemng tag, but we are only constrained to pick 7 out of the lot. Please, if your post did not make it this week, there is a fair chance of making it next week. So without further ado, let us delve in. These are the top 7 posts that made it to this week's stemng digest.
Saturday: What I Learnt This Week 8: 3D imaging of fat cells, White graphene and ceramics, The wearable age simulator, The Discovery of a Five Planet System, & SpaceX's Zuma Mission
@pearlumie took us into a rollercoaster ride into the world of 3D imaging; and its new insight on different types of fats. IThe article featured graphene (the wonder carbon allotrope), an age simulator, the discovery of a new planet, and Elon Musk's SpaceX Zuma Mission. For more details feel free to follow the link above.
Sunday: Driverless cars and the potential to solve traffic problems in cities
Monday: IMMUNIZATION, BENEFICIAL OR DETRIMENTAL?
@ugonma had to visit the school two years ago due to the son running a fever and found out the child had already being vaccinated without her conscent. She then went on to educate us on what immunization was all about and left a question at the end of the post which I am sure you may like to find out what it is all about. The link to the full story is above.
Tuesday: AI Beats Humans At Stanford Comprehension Test
@samminator had us looking into an AI breaking another boundary. This time it it narrowly was a step ahead as it beat the human high score on a comprehenstion test by a fraction. The author is very optimistic of AI being indistinguishable from humans in the nearest future. We cannot wait to see that happen.
Wednesday: Introduction to Basic Electronic Components #10: Come Learn How to Build Basic Electronic Devices
@kenadis had some things to share on electronics. It was about the 555 integrated circuit timer. He did a good job in showing us how to identify the IC and a rundown on the different pins of the IC. Feel free to check the blog for more awesome tutorials.
Thursday: MEET THE PROTOCOL THAT'S POWERING THE INTERNET
@henrychidiebere had a thing or two to show us on the internet. Yeah, most of us use it but do we know what happens behind the scene? Some of the protocols that makes it possible for you to read this digest were mentioned in the article. Take a peep at the blog, we found it interesting and we hope you do too.
Friday: Understanding The Electronic Configuration That Dictates The Conductivity Of Metals
@kaydee describes the properties of most engineering materials that lie on the electronic configuration. Such properties include conductivity, resistivity, malleability, ductility, etc. This electronic configuration encompasses the way the electrons are arranged in the orbitals and the distance of the outermost shell electrons from the nucleus. If the outermost shell electrons are incomplete, they can be easily be dislodged from the parent atoms and become free electrons. Do not take our word for it, visit the blog and see more of that.
About the selection process
The post for each day was selected based on consensus between the stemng management, in persons of @greenrun and
