I really do not see myself as a motivational writer. However, I always marvel when people forget what is working for them and totally focus on what is not working. Sometimes, when I discuss with friend, they look at me enviously like I have everything figured out in life. Dude! I am even half the man you think I am!

The truth is that pessimism will ruin you and make a life other people look up to as worthless as anything. At every point in one's life, something must be working, even if it is as simple as breathing in oxygen and breathing out carbon dioxide.

Thus, focusing all your energy on those things that are not working is a waste of time, unless you are working to make them work. Even at that, don't forget to remember what is working and smile once in a while

Welcome to a new edition of our weekly publications.

Who are we?

STEMng is the Nigerian sub-community of the stemsocial community, a community that has been supporting stem authors on the hive blockchain for about four years now. While stemsocial focuses on everyone irrespective of their country, STEMng is specifically for Nigerians. The best stem contents published by Nigerians on the Hive blockchain are highlighted weekly.

Below are the posts that made it into our digest for this week:

  1. eni-ola@eni-ola: Triggers, Etiology and Pathophysiology of Seizures
As a Nigerian who has lived all his/her life in Nigeria, you more likely to run away from, instead of running to, a person in seizure. The reason is not far-fetched. Many of us lack education in that area and largely attribute seizures to supernatural occurrence. Thanks to this author for an educative piece on seizures. This is a must read for everyone. At least, you will know that seizures are usually not contagious.

2.mengene@mengene: Must-Have Apps for STEM Bloggers and Academic Researchers
Coming second in our selection for this week is an article from a long-term author who's gone awol for a while. He could, however, be forgiven by the community for this beautiful piece where he highlighted some applications that could help people in STEMS - be it for blogging or academic purposes. You would want to check this one out.

3.bimbo45@bimbo45: Explaining Beta Blockers (Mechanism of Action, Clinical indications, and Adverse Effect)

Cardiovascular diseases are perhaps the most common disease in the world. Everyone knows someone who also knows someone that has a disease relating to the heart or blood pressure. In this post, the author discussed the working principle of the drugs used to manage these diseases. Read the post to learn more about beta blockers.

4.clinton19@clinton19: Weekly Science And Technology Reports - December 18 2022
What is death? I can bet you don't have a perfect definition and neither do scientists as what they thought constitute death keeps changing. Do you know that the only living organisms that knead in the world are bakers and cats? Dinosaurs! Did I hear someone say? You all really need to read this interesting weekly science and technology reports from our amiable author.

5.sam9999@sam9999: Competing with a 7 year old Human: A bird with an Amazing IQ
Rounding off this amazing week is a post about crow's intelligence. If you think the ravens are the most intelligent species of birds, you probably need to check out this post. There is even a claim that the crow's intelligence competes with that of a 7 year old.

And that ends our selections for this week. Do not forget to give the featured posts/authors your maximum support. Thank you in advance.

If you are a content creator on Hive and wondering how you can participate in the community, all you need to do would to:

  • Write original content or videos
  • Make it as interesting as possible
  • Adopt beautiful layout/formatting
  • Personalize your writing (it is social blogging, remember)
  • Use copyright-free images
  • Include references (facts over fiction)
  • to increase the likelihood of being discovered, use the tag 'stemng'.
