It's been awhile since my last confession,
So many stresses that it's hard to heed the lesson.
I have waited so long that my senses have dulled,
My soul now so weary that my inspiration's all but culled.
This is not a reason to leap and let fly,
If patience is a virtue, here - have mine.

I once knew a man with a sparkle in his eye,
But now that fire's dead and he no longer makes me cry.
I once knew strength, stamina and security,
But now that's all been washed away and replaced with lies, ego and impurity.
I won't be the one to sit on my hands and wait,
I don't even have the time to entertain you all with tales of hate.
You can have your comfortable shoes,
And when the landscape becomes a wasteland,
I wont be there for you to tell me your blues.

They say that karma is a curious thing, but I don't wish to fix another broken thing.
I've seen enough to know that this world is not a happy place,
I've severed enough ties that my blade is gleaming red.
I will not be the one to pick you up when you're down, when you would stab me in the back in my sleep.
I have forgotten all that you are to me and all you ever were,
And you want to say that the joke's on me.

Death and all his friends have come to visit,
And so it is that you lay out the finest cutlery.
The grim reaper sits down to dine with you,
And you say that your plate is not full.
Your darkness has consumed you,
And so it is that you say the sunshine's brighter.
I smile and laugh at your misfortunes with gusto,
And I've never felt so good.
As I bury you in the earth this day,
I know I can now live a happier day.
Nothing has ever felt greater.

If I do anything incorrect it's because I am very new to Steemit. I'm here to make some friends and look forward to seeing your feedback in the comments below!
