The past year has been nothing short of exciting for me.
I really tried my best to participate in most of the weekly contests, if not all of it and I can say that I achieved my goal.
The weekly Featured Topics have been very, very helpful.
The Featured Topics have helped me greatly by providing inspiration for an article or something else in particular. These topics help kick the mind into action and I have to take time to think and reflect on how exactly I am affected by any topic in particular and if I have enough knowledge to participate.
Thanks to our very intelligent community members, most of the time the topics challenge me to actually share my experience especially when it's something that resonates with how I feel or something I have experienced before and I have to write something about it.
Also, the Featured Topics provide a way for me to learn new things from community members as everyone has something different and unique to bring forward.
I have learned new things in the past year just from reading other people's views about a certain topic and it has been very enlightening.
Also in the past year I made friends and this is as a result of the Saturday Hangout that happens every week.
I wasn't into the idea of a weekly hangout at first because I didn't know what exactly I was supposed to do but that changed after I decided to join the hangout one fateful Saturday and ever since I have always attended the hangout whenever I can and I even look forward to it too.
I met a lot of wonderful people through the hangout and it's always fun hanging out with them.
I also made more friends when I joined the Monday night voice hangout one evening. I was always missing the hangout because I always got the time mixed up and by the time I would try to join it'd have been over and so I made out time to attend one Monday evening and till today I'm glad I finally got to be a part of it.
I made new friends through the hangout and it's actually fun getting to hear everyone talk about certain topics and it's always fun hanging out with everyone.
Joining the hangout sessions regularly has helped to boost my engagement. I always love to read as many articles as I can and I'm always eager to see everyone participate during the weekly contests.
Engagement is a form of support and a community thrives when members support each other. For this reason, engagement for me has been really great.
It's been a beautiful ride in the past year with the beautiful memories made with fellow group members during each one of the hangouts I attended and it's been really wonderful getting to engage on their content and vice versa, trading opinions and sharing knowledge.
Just learning all round, the fun kind of learning too. :)
It's been a pleasure interacting with everyone in the community and the sense of oneness has been abundant.
Through this community I have met a lot of awesome individuals and I think it's safe to say that we have come a long way as a community, helping each other grow as authors and as individuals as well.
Self reflection is one of the things I have learned in this community through the creative sunday contest. I see a lot of creativity in the community that are amazing and it prompts (challenges really) me to reach inside to discover what talents are hiding in the dark, afraid of the light.
It's a process, but I am getting there.
All in all, being a member of this community has been wonderful from the very moment I got verified and I want to use this medium to offer my heartfelt gratitude to all community members and the administrators/moderators for all that they do to help the community grow.
Hive Learners is thriving and will continue to do so.
