Barbara and Bowen were twins and were oddly identical. Bowen could pass for Barbara if he decided to dress up as a girl and the same went for Barbara. For Barbara, Bowen was the reason she lives. Literally. She never did anything without her brother, the same goes for Bowen too. They shared a special bond. They loved each other to death.
Barbara and Bowen came from a wealthy home. They had influential parents and they live in a Penthouse. Their Father held a pretty important position in the school’s board. The twins were well known in the school because of that in addition to their good grades and good looks.
Despite all that, they weren’t particularly respectful students too, especially Barbara. She was sassy and cheeky and did whatever it took to get what she wanted. They had a lot of friends too but their bond remained strong as ever.
Barbara never imagined for once that her brother would love another girl except her until Sarah enrolled in their school. Sarah is a beautiful light-skinned girl with long black hair and beautiful brown eyes. She has a beautiful slender figure and is very intelligent and bright. Before Sarah showed up, Barbara used to top the class with Bowen in second place and vice versa until Sarah came and took the top position from her. This did not sit well with Barbara and so, she disliked Sarah and came up with a plan to make her fail the term’s exams.
“Hi Sarah, I’m Bowen” Sarah could not believe it, she was hallucinating for sure.
“Hi” she replied shyly, the hottest guy in the school actually walked up to her and talked to her. She couldn’t believe it.
“Uhm, are you free?” Bowen asked.
“Yes, I am free at the moment” Sarah answered.
“I would like to spend more time with you. To yunno, to know you more?” Bowen asked her.
Sarah was beginning to feel giddy, the excitement was just too much but she said instead, “yeah, sure I would like to know you more too” she replied shyly.
“Cool,” Bowen smiled.
“Cool,” Sarah replied as well.
Weeks passed…
News has gone around the school that Bowen and Sarah are in a relationship. Barbara wasn’t pleased with the update, but she had to put up with it. Bowen and Sarah were always seen together, they read together, eat together, and basically go everywhere together.
Months pass…
Preparations for the upcoming midterm exams are in full gear. All around the school environment, students can be seen in various study groups preparing hard for the exams. There is tension in the air because the midterm exams are really important in a student’s academics so the students have to give it their all. At this point, Sarah and Bowen got even closer, it seems like studying together only strengthened their bond.
Finally, the long-awaited midterm exams commenced and the exams are written within a week. After the final paper on a Friday afternoon, Sarah and Bowen take a walk in the school garden.
“Finally, I get to be silly.” Sarah giggles.
“Not for long though, exams are approaching” Bowen reminded her.
“I know, I know” Sarah laughs. They walked hand in hand and talked about ordinary things.
Finally, the results of the exams are released and students can be seen running to the notice board to check their performances, Sarah was not left out. When she got there, she met Bowen and Barbara there.
“Congratulations, you did great” Bowen congratulated Sarah.
As she smiled back at him, she noticed the look of utter fury on Barbara’s face and her smile disappeared.
Bowen noticed too and tried to give her a comforting hug but she pushed him away screaming angrily at the top of her voice saying, “Bowen, this wasn’t the plan!” Her voice rang through the hallway and the hallway became silent. “You were supposed to distract Sarah and make her fail her exams. Why is she at the top again when you promised me that you would make sure she loses focus in her studies?” Barbara ranted.
“Let’s talk about this in private” Bowen said but Barbara wouldn’t hear of it.
“I came fourth! She came first again with you second, how did that happen?”
Silence.
“What’s going on here? I don’t understand” Sarah asked with a shaky voice, hurt written all over her.
“I can explain” Bowen rushed to her saying.
“You used me?” Sarah asked.
“NO! I didn’t use you, it’s not like that,” Bowen said.
“It’s what then? Because I’m confused”.
Bowen hesitated.
“Go on, tell her,” Barbara said to him and stormed out.
“My sister doesn’t like you. So she came up with a plan to make you fail the exams. I was to make you fall for me and keep you away from your studies in order for you to fail the exams, but tables turned, believe me. I REALLY like you and I like the bond we share, please forgive me.” Bowen begged.
Sarah shook her head and said softly, “Go ask for your sister’s forgiveness instead, you seem to have failed her.” She turned and walked away sobbing softly.
“Don’t go” he begged softly. He stared at her retreating back and at that moment he blamed his sister for everything. He suddenly disliked his sister. He blamed her for ruining the special bond he shared with someone that wasn’t his twin sister.
He loved someone else and his sister won’t have it.
Bowen turned in the opposite direction and walked down the hallway with loneliness in his eyes.
