Hello there, I came across something in my class lectures today about Forest Bathing. I did not know this was a term or that being in nature had a certain phrase! I knew that being in nature helps your mental health and physical health! And now I have more proof to validate this :) awesome!

So Forest bathing was recommended in my assignments for school! I take online classes to become a certified health coach! And they always give me assignments at the end of every course module! and as part of my assignment for the module I just completed.. They told me to forest bath to activate my parasympathetic nervous system! Cool, right?! well, They also mentioned other forms such as deep breathing, stretching, meditating, and any other activity that provides relaxation. So I thought this was a cool thing to share with you and will talk more about forest bathing!

I looked up forest bathing because I had never heard that before, but I have been doing this all my life! haha so what I found was Forest Bathing, or Shinrin Yoku, is a term that means "taking in the forest" a.k.a "forest bathing."
It was developed in Japan during the 1980's. To Forest Bathe you simply walk slowly. breathe deeply. open all your senses. and be in the forest. That is Forest Bathing. I love this! I recently went to Indian Trails State park and Basically forest bathed! It was amazing, I dipped my feet in the waters there and even drank and bottled some fresh spring water! This state park provides spring water from an underground rock that naturally spews water... seriously. It is protected and no human can tamper with it. I bottled a lot of it and too it home with me :) It smells like rotten eggs though because of the amount of sulfur in it! but after three days of it being bottled the smell goes away! and let me tell you... this water is SOOOO CLEAR! very crystal clear! and tastes so good! This is going to be a weekly thing for me to bottle up fresh spring water, I am so grateful to be able to do this!

Also, some more information on forest bathing, It has many benefits that have been studied and practiced in Japan and South Korea. Being in nature, surrounding yourself in the wilderness, should be second nature to you already, just by listening to your intuition! And because of the scientific literature from Japan and South Korea there is scientific evidence to proof it now.

Here are some benefits of forest bathing:

  • Boosted immune system functioning, with an increase in the count of the body's Natural Killer (NK) cells.
  • Reduced blood pressure
  • Reduced stress
  • Improved mood
  • Increased ability to focus, even in children with ADHD
  • Accelerated recovery from surgery or illness
  • Increased energy level
  • Improved sleep

Being in nature, the trees give off organic compounds that support our "NK" (natural killer) cells that are part of our body's natural way of fighting cancer.

And if being in nature on a daily basis consistently, then you experience:

  • Deeper and clearer intuition
  • Increased flow of energy
  • Increased capacity to communicate with the land and its species
  • Increased flow of eros/life force
  • Deepening of friendships
  • Overall increase in sense of happiness

So there you have it! I hope YOU start Forest Bathing more!!! We all should do this as a part of our daily routines! Add this on to your lifestyle and you will reap the benefits! And here is a website that I read and got all this information from! I hope this helps in any way to convince you to be in nature more.
