Day 9 of my Splinterlands journey, and today was another reminder that having a plan does not always mean the battle will go according to that plan.
I went into the battle with a pretty clear idea of what I wanted to do. I looked at the available mana, considered the situation and picked cards that I thought would work well together.
Everything looked good before the battle started.
Then the battle actually started. 😂
And suddenly, my plan didn’t look as good as it did in my head.
That is something I have become more comfortable with as I continue playing. Sometimes you make a lineup that looks perfect during preparation, but once the cards start attacking, you realize there are weaknesses you didn’t notice.
Maybe your tank is taking too much damage.
Maybe your attacker isn’t doing enough.
Maybe your opponent has an ability that completely changes the battle.
Or maybe you simply made the wrong choice.
It happens.
What I am learning is that I should not panic when the battle starts going differently from what I expected.
Instead, I try to watch what is actually happening.
Which cards are performing well?
Which ones are struggling?
Where is my opponent getting an advantage?
Sometimes the answer becomes obvious after a few turns.
This has also made me appreciate the importance of adapting.
A strategy that looks good before the battle is not necessarily the strategy that will win the battle. Once everything starts moving, you have to understand what is happening and learn from it.
Of course, there are situations where you cannot change your lineup anymore, so all you can do is watch and hope your cards somehow pull through. 😂
Those are some of the most stressful battles.
You start calculating every possible outcome in your head.
“If this card survives one more attack…”
“If that card hits…”
“If I can just get one more turn…”
Suddenly, one attack feels like the most important attack in the world. 😂
And when it works, the feeling is great.
But when it doesn’t…
Pain.
Still, those close battles are usually the ones I remember.
An easy win is nice, but a battle where everything is uncertain until the end feels completely different.
It also reminds me that Splinterlands isn’t just about having powerful cards.
Strategy, timing, positioning and combinations all matter.
A strong card in the wrong situation may not be very useful.
A less impressive card in the right situation can become extremely important.
That is something I want to keep improving at.
I want to become better at looking at the situation rather than simply choosing the cards I like most.
There is still plenty for me to learn.
Every day I notice something new, whether it is about positioning, abilities, mana management or simply understanding how different cards work together.
And honestly, I think that is what keeps the game interesting.
There is always another battle.
Another lineup.
Another experiment.
Another mistake to learn from.
Day 9 has been another reminder that things will not always go according to plan, and that is perfectly fine.
Sometimes the unexpected battles are the ones that teach you the most.
So I will keep experimenting, keep learning and hopefully make fewer questionable decisions along the way. 😂
Day 10 is next.
Let’s see what the battlefield has waiting for me.
