There are some movies you watch once and forget about a few days later. Then there are movies that somehow stay in your mind long after the credits have finished.
One movie that gives me that feeling is The Truman Show.
At first, it looks like a simple comedy about a man living an ordinary life. Truman wakes up, goes to work, talks to his neighbours, and follows the same routine every day. Everything seems normal.
But there is something strange about his world.
Without Truman knowing, his entire life is actually being filmed for a television show. His friends, neighbours, coworkers, and even his wife are all actors. The town he lives in is a massive set, and almost everyone around him is part of the production.
What makes the movie interesting is watching Truman slowly begin to notice that things are not adding up.
Small incidents start making him suspicious. People behave strangely. He begins noticing patterns. Eventually, he starts questioning the entire world around him.
I really like movies that make you think while still being entertaining, and this is one of those movies.
It is not just about escaping from a fake world. It also makes you think about how comfortable people can become with routines. Truman has a life that seems perfect from the outside, but it is not really his own because other people have been controlling almost every part of it.
The more he discovers, the more difficult it becomes for him to continue living the way he always has.
One thing I enjoyed about the movie is how the story gradually changes. It starts off feeling almost funny and ordinary, but as Truman becomes more suspicious, the movie becomes much more serious.
You start wanting him to discover the truth.
And when he finally decides that he would rather face the unknown than continue living inside something fake, the moment feels very satisfying.
That is what makes movies memorable for me.
It is not always about explosions, action, or huge special effects. Sometimes a simple story with an interesting idea can stay with you much longer.
The Truman Show also makes you think about how much of our lives is shaped by the routines we create. Sometimes we become comfortable doing the same things every day simply because they are familiar.
But stepping outside that comfort zone can reveal an entirely different world.
That is probably why this movie has remained so memorable.
It is entertaining, strange, funny, and thoughtful at the same time.
And honestly, if you have never watched it before, it is one of those movies where knowing too much about the story beforehand can take away some of the experience.
Sometimes the best way to watch a movie is to simply press play and let the story reveal itself.
