At this point, I think my cards and I have a complicated relationship.
One battle, I love a card.
The next battle, I never want to see it again.
Then three battles later, I’m using it again like nothing happened. 😂
It usually starts with me finding a card that performs really well.
It destroys an opponent, survives longer than expected and suddenly I’m convinced I’ve discovered my secret weapon.
I start thinking:
“This card is definitely coming with me everywhere.”
Then I use the same card in the next battle.
It does absolutely nothing.
😂
Now I’m staring at the screen wondering if I imagined the previous battle.
“How were you so good five minutes ago?”
This is one of the funniest things about playing Splinterlands.
A card doesn’t have to be bad.
Sometimes the situation is just completely wrong for it.
But try explaining that to yourself when you just watched your favorite card get destroyed. 😂
Then there are the cards I completely ignore.
I look at them and think:
“Not today.”
I keep choosing the cards I already trust.
Then one day, I decide to experiment.
I put the forgotten card into my lineup.
And somehow…
It works.
Now I’m shocked.
Suddenly I’m looking at the card like it has been waiting patiently for me to notice it.
“Why didn’t I use you before?” 😂
The funny thing is that I already know what will happen next.
I’ll use it again.
It will perform badly.
And I’ll immediately say:
“Never again.”
😂
Splinterlands really teaches you not to get too attached to one strategy.
You can have your favorite cards.
You can have your favorite combinations.
You can even have a lineup that has worked several times.
But eventually, the game will give you a situation where you have to do something different.
And that’s when things get interesting.
Sometimes I build a lineup and feel like a genius.
Sometimes I build one and immediately regret it.
Sometimes I don’t even know why I chose certain cards.
But once the battle starts, there’s no going back.
You just sit there and watch your decisions play out.
The worst feeling is when you realize halfway through the battle that you made a terrible decision.
You see the problem.
You understand exactly what went wrong.
But there is absolutely nothing you can do about it. 😂
All you can do is watch.
And learn.
And promise yourself that you won’t make the same mistake again.
Until tomorrow.
When you probably make the same mistake again. 😂
But honestly, that’s part of the fun.
Every battle feels like another little experiment.
You learn which cards work together.
You learn when to attack.
You learn when to defend.
You learn that positioning matters.
And most importantly, you learn that sometimes your best strategy is simply to stop overthinking everything.
So yes, my Splinterlands cards and I have trust issues.
But I’ll keep using them.
Because every once in a while, one of them surprises me.
And when that happens, all the frustrating battles suddenly feel worth it.
Until the next battle, of course. 😂
